USAID & Ad Council : FWD
Delivering hunger relief by delivering the facts.
USAID & Ad Council FWD Relief. The Horn of Africa crisis had been the most severe humanitarian emergency in the world — with 13+ million people facing starvation. But people didn’t fully comprehend its complexity and scale. So we partnered with USAID and the Ad Council to create an awareness campaign called FWD, designed to get people sharing information and donating.
FWD stands for famine, war and drought, the three major crises that created the devastation in the Horn of Africa. But it also stands for the call of action of getting informed, engaged, and forwarding the facts to others. This social-first campaign also included TV spots featuring Uma Thurman, Josh Hartnett, Chanel Iman, Geena Davis, Anthony Bourdain, Ray Lewis and Jill Biden. The effort led to $113 million in federal emergency aid.
